About M&R Mechanical

Built around
Land Rover excellence.

An independent specialist workshop in West Ryde. Twenty years on the tools. Land Rovers only. The mechanic other mechanics — and other dealers — quietly send their hard jobs to.

Our story

Passion.
Expertise.
Precision.

The workshop started with one principle: do Land Rovers properly, or don't do them at all. No mixed fleet, no jack-of-all-trades, no parts-cannon. Every car that comes through gets the time and the tools it deserves.

That focus is what makes the difference. After twenty years on these vehicles, most faults are pattern-recognition. We've seen the L322 air compressor fail a hundred times. We've serviced more ZF 8HPs than most dealers. We know which TDV6 timing covers leak, which BCMs go bad, which mechatronics need a sleeve versus a replacement.

The cars know the difference. The owners know it too — and they tell their friends.

How we work

Specialist care.
Superior results.

Land Rover
only

No mixed fleet. No "we'll have a look at your Hilux too". One marque, one focus, one specialist.

Diagnose
first

Scan, scope, road-test. We don't touch a bolt before we know what's actually wrong — and we tell you straight before any work begins.

Genuine
OEM only

ZF LifeGuardFluid, Hitachi compressors, OEM filters and gaskets. No aftermarket gambles on the parts that matter.

Honest
up-front quote

No surprises on the invoice. Quote first, work second. Written report you can take elsewhere if you want a second opinion.

Equipment & tools

Dealer-level kit,
independent mindset.

The tools matter. Most independent workshops can't afford the diagnostic equipment Land Rover dealers use — so they're stuck guessing. We invested in the same kit, because that's what's required to do these cars properly.

  • Pico Technology PicoScope 4425A — automotive oscilloscope
  • Snap-on Verdict — diagnostic scanner with JLR coverage
  • JLR Pathfinder — factory-level dealer software
  • Full Snap-on hand tool inventory — calibrated torque wrenches
  • Hydraulic transmission jack — for ZF and 9HP work
  • Four-post hoists — safe access for big Land Rovers
From the owner

Why Land Rovers? Because they reward
the mechanic who actually understands them.

"I started on these cars in the early 2000s. Discovery 2s, L322 Range Rovers, Defender Td5s. Twenty years later, I still find the work interesting — they're complicated machines, and most of what goes wrong follows a pattern you can only see if you've watched it happen a hundred times. That's the difference between a workshop that gets it and a workshop that's still guessing."
